presenting...

behind these walls started a while back...it involves a number of large ceiling to floor panels. they are set up in the main foyer on the 3rd floor of the School of Arts, Media and Communication. anyone can create a panel. all they have to do is put there name on one. once your name is on it...its all yours and you can do with it what you will....painting, sculpture, stencilling etc.

this is how my panel came out:

Decksibition 2008

Our graduating class, Primecuts, had their
second fundraising exhibition last week from thursday to tuesday (24th -29th). We all got skateboard decks and were told to decorate them however we pleased. After much debate I decided to go digital rather than hand painted. Here are some pics from the night:

This one above is mine...entitled "For the dogs". Bit of special message behind that title.
We started selling them on launch night for 80 dollars and then reduced the price to 60 dollars. My deck sold on the last day of the exhibition. I have never sold any of my art before so I'm feeling kinda proud but also kinda sad that i couldn't keep it.

Well that's all for now....till next time...keep safe...have fun

everybody draw skulls exhibition

Hey again!

On Friday 23rd May and Saturday 24th May TAFE had our first fundraising exhibition: EVERYBODY DRAW SKULLS.

We got together some blank canvases and han
ded them out to some outside artists, some lecturers and some Advanced Diploma Graphic Design students and let them loose.  I did a couple of pieces (below) and handed them in.

The opening night had a really good turn out and the silent auction had some interesting results.  We sold lots of hot dogs and badges.  The rockabilly DJ was awesome and the students all worked really hard so well done!

a day of listening

Semi-Permanent '08 was on yesterday at the Regal.  It was good.  I liked most of the speakers but was a bit disappointed with Ben Frost and Interzone.  I got the new 2008 book for 20 bucks which was a bargain and it didnt disappoint.  I also got to see the "letters with feeling" exhibition and saw my letter J with all the other letters as A0 size posters on giant easels that were set up throughout the theatre.

Amy Sol was interesting and I really enjoyed the talk given by lifelounge.  Quite inspiring.  So I guess that is all for now and I will be posting again soon!

old photos

i took these when i was waiting in a queue for petrol up at whitfords one day....petrol was going for 1.26 a litre...i thought it was funny coz this reminded me of back home in zimbabwe when we used to queue for petrol (we didnt queue coz we wanted fuel that was cheaper, we queued just to get fuel just to survive).   the photo on the left is  in Perth Australia, the right is Harare in Zimbabwe.

xmas card designs 2008

I thought I would post these as I did them last year for a small greeting card company in Perth. Their are 6 cards and they will all be printed for Christmas this year. The 6 cards form one set.

new blog for new year

Hello!

My old blog is officially history. I will be recording all my comings and goings from here from now on.

I have moved out of my aunt and uncles house and am now living with 3 others in a house near Edgewater trainstation. The lease runs out end of April and we will be moving ot of here a couple of weeks before that.

Advanced diploma of graphic design is going well. I am really looking forward to going to semipermanent this year. Only 13 days to wait. Here is something recent that I've done.

Recently handed in my letter "J" which will be hung up at the alphabet city exhibition this year at semi permanent. The letter had to represent an emotion. I chose joyful. I liked the way it turned out. Simple but effective.

Anyway I will update as often as I can.
Cheers!
